Spielberg series sued for haircut

To be fair, this is quite a wildly held custom, I believe the seikhs observe it, and if you've spent your entire life growing your hair specially for a ceremony, and then somebody comes along and cuts it off without consulting your parents, it's not on.

Though the sheer sum of the damages is a bit ridiculous...

 Why didn't she tell them not to cut her hair?

they offered her some sweeties and asked her to come with them? to be honest i blame the parents for not teaching her the do's and don'ts. at her age too... bah!

 Didn't occur to the girl to say "wait, no, religion, bad, scissors down"
That's what's confusing me...

Surely she knew that she shouldn't let them cut her hair?

Phantom: I saw that ninja edit :p

Yes because at aged 8 I'm sure all kids are absolutely sure of themselves and willing to oppose an adults will.

I mean lets face it, if a kiddie gets felt up by a paedofile, she should have said no.

(this does sound like a huge case of tabloidism I agree, but I believe the parallels I'm drawing are still fair).

It's a religious thing though, you can't judge its worth by our values.

Well Mr Ponce (lol) should have said something to the film producers before handing his daughter over perhaps, if it was that big a deal to him.

Obviously Mr Ponce can quantify it:-

£142,000 for emotional distress
£43,000 in damages

he must be deeply religous

Spielberg didn't do it himself, he wasn't even present, it's just a show he produces, not directs.

The girl was old enough to say something, personally I think what they are asking for in 'emotional distress' is nothing short of a joke.

What better way to get publicity than to have a pending lawsuit which will no doubt be settled out-of-court.

Big PR spin.
