...spilt a beer over my keyboard

Nothing beats personal experience. If you hadn't have tried the logitech you'd have gone out and bought it - try them in a store first!!!!!

p.s. fixing the old one is probably well within your abilities....

ordinary keyboards, i.e wired ones without any fancy things, like the display on the G15, can usually be stuck in the dishwasher (or if you think it could survive it, the washing machine) and then left on a radiator to dry. As long as it it TOTALLY dry on the inside before you plug it back in, it should work fine. In fact, i seem to remember reading on here somewhere that someone had washed their keyboard dozens of times with no ill effect, apart from it looking a bit battered.

I don't know if a wireless keyboard would be ok, as there is all the components for the wireless part of it, unlike a normal one which just has plastic parts and a circuit board (which nowadays is 3 sheets of thin plastic)

Chuck it in the bath!!!
(By the way, I've never tried this I just want to see if it survives)
lmfao

I just got a Saitek Ecplipse 1 for xmas and its a great keyboard, my advice is try fixing it first, if you still have no joy go out and buy another :D

Attack it with the shower head.

My chum let out cries of "No! Never!" When I suggested giving it a soaking with warm water and a thorough 48hr dry out in the towel cupboard thing.

Sure enough though, it's been working right as rain ever since :)

I've been using a Coolermaster 'Alloy Q' keyboard for the past 3 years and I cannot fault it at all. I use it a lot, not a single key is worn and every single one is still as solid as ever. It's laptop style, OcUK used to sell them but not anymore, have a look around and see if you can find one.

When this one finally breaks (if ever) I'm going to be trying my best to get a replacement.

I know you're a gamer too and it's fantastic for that, every key is reasonably sensitive and responsive, it's also very quiet.

Hmm I quite like my keyes to .. err .. protrude (?) more than that.
I have stupid dumb fingers, and I hate laptop style keyboards... I keep pressing the wrong buttons, like my Nan would :(

I went to have a shower with the old keyboard ... lets see what happens :P

If you don't manage to fix it, and you don't much like the logitech, I'd definately recommend the Saitek Eclipse II.

I've just moved to one, from a logitech keyboard, and love the feel of it. It's a proper sized keyboard without being too large, and the back-lit LED's actually shine through the keys (unlike the Saitek gaming keyboard).

You can change the colour, or dim, or switch off the backlighting if you don't need it. And it has some descrete media keys top-right.

It's wired, but it's cheap, and looks great!

I cannot for life of me figure out why this post makes me actually want to go an put my keyboard in for a quick cycle. Do you need to do what you do with trainers and put it in a pillow case first?

re: Washing machines - seriously, has anyone tried this??

The dishwasher one does work. My "simple" keyboard came up perfect. But you need to turn off the drying function and I didn't use soap..

Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-055-MS&tool=3

best keyboard so far.
Quoted for truth.

Ergonomics aren't for everyone though - I find it can be a bit of a hindrance in games where you need a range of commands. I like mine so much I bought another for work out of my own money.

And I've not got low standards - this replaced a DiNovo....

I've done this to TWO separate keyboards, one with carling, the other Beck's  It's because I play tunes on the PC when having a beer with mates.

Washing machine or dishwasher? I thought a washing machine would kill it instantly....

Washing machine, but it wasn't in there alone ... chucked in a few sheets as well and was set to a low spin/cool wash :)

pmsl!!!

washing machine for the win, lol aint heard that one before.

May have to try it just to test it out lol.

Can see it now, wish i still lived at home, mum n dad used to go metal when i used to wash my trainers in it, wha they would say with a keyboard churning around would be hilarious!! :D
