kitchen towel until it's as dry as possible. then 1001 or other stain cleaner.

Quick way:
Press Kitchen towel or a tea towel on it until its soaked up. Do not rub it out.
For stains, if there is any White Wine kicking about, put some on a clean white/cream towel and rub the stain gently.
The smell of the wine will wear off quick and the stain will be removed 99% of the time.

I've dabbed with cold water it's still thereI'm so screwed if it marks!!! Normally we have vanish but not tonight topical!!!
get it as dry as possible with kitchen towel. get some 1001 tomorrow and use that then. don't apply water, don't rub the pile; pat with the towel.

If there is a stain, 1001 carpet cleaner if good at getting rid of it, I puked on a cream carpet and I got it good as new afterwards...
