The cup was on my desk, i went to pick it up, it slipped through my fingers, now theres about a pint of water in my pc case! I have dried it with a hair dryer and am leaving it to dry for 24h. From the look of the water, and being optimistic, the psu and possibly the mobo are the only things damaged although i wont know till tomorrow.

This is a long stretch but does anyone have anything that can help me?

If the pc was off at the time then dry them all completly. if you need to you should dismantle it. leave for a good couple of days to make sure.

Depending on the case you should be safe
Mine was under dripping water working for hours upstairs neighbor was flooded
Be careful testing the components
Start with the psu connect it to a fan and power it up for 10minutes if no smoke go on
Motherbord the same only psu and fans and case speaker

Do you have a Tumble Dryer ? :D Try and put the open side of the case next to a radiator to help dry it out.

You see, what you need to do is now fill your pc case with rice. Totally legit advice, and we want pictures of you doing it.

If that doesn't work, do what Lee32uk suggested and put it in the tumble dryer

Yeahhhhh....... the pc was on :( and something defiantly broke and the case has a big grill on the top so i have been hair drying my components and will test today, starting with the psu on an old mobo to see if that is gone, rice is interesting though, is that real?

I was joking before you go and fill your pc with rice! (rice works great if you drop your smaller electricals in water as they will absorb the moisture)

Anyway, I would find some old components to test the parts on, just be careful with the PSU. I spilt a super sized mug of coffee over my pc once, the top is just a grill before the components, lets just say I keep my drinks a LONG way away from my pc now :P

DONT try your components today. Seriously wait a few days, just leave them to dry naturally or you run the risk of causing more harm. Nice spec too dude, I hope the damage is minimal at most!

This. If its just water then i would suggest stripping the machine down to components and leaving them all the dry for as long as you possibly can.

That would kill it for sure!!

They create static!!!

Disassemble and leave the components in the airing cupboard on a rack or shelf for atleast a day or two if I were you. Inspect them and give them a shake, if any water comes out still they are not ready. Then test components one by one I guess....
I put a dead remote control in mine the other day and was fine after 24 hours. That was a liquid spill too.

I was wondering if you could report crap like that, Do the mods just sweep through every now and then to tidy them up or is there a report feature I didn't see....

Airing cupboard, amazingly good at helping dry things out, always strip things down as much as possible when drying them ( dont remove parts which void warranty), if there are any residue/water marks on the boards, you can try methylated spirit to clean them carefully as it evaporates and leaves very little if any residue behind.if you do remember less is more
