I believe this project has been knocking around for a while, but I wasn't aware of it until someone pointed out the current Kickstarter for it.

I'm not entirely sure I want a full game of this kind of thing, but the demo's available via the link above, and if you watch the tyres, mud, and water, you'll find a rather incredible eye for detail. They've done a superb job, and all in a lump of data which is only 75MB. I'm half inclined to pledge just to support their talent.

I just wish they'd do a rally game instead. These guys could finally make the sequel to Richard Burns Rally.

Impressive. Would be nice if tech like this became standard in all games (that involve off road vehicles) as it definetly adds to the realism and visual fidelity.

have to say after a play of the demo i'm thoroughly impressed.

will be pledging on this if only to see this tech getting a good airing.

would love to see this in a proper rally game.

This is brilliant I've always wanted an offroad game with this much realism I used to play a game called Screamer 4X4 all the time but the physics were no where as good as this.

As a new game programmer this blows my mind. Getting simple 3D graphics to work recently was a nightmare. Can't imagine what it is like to make something like this :o

Agreed. I'm way out of touch with programming, and my last efforts were in 2D and pure machine code. But apparently this is all the work of one guy. Which makes it all the more amazing. The programming and the graphics are so impressive.

It also means we'll have to be very patient. :-)

I'm no expert on Kickstart projects, but I do worry that there's no initial momentum behind this. That's one reason why I wanted to post here and do my bit to spread the word.

As someone with a bit of experience programming this kind of tech I clicked the link expecting to think "seen it all before" but came away suitably impressed, not really interested in the game tho but the tech is nice.

Hope it makes it as theres obviously a lot of passion and talent behind it but I think its possibly to niche to make its target on kickstarter.

bit niche market but the demo was quite good.

add hill climb events and such with land rovers and other cars with people competing on various tracks
