Spinpoint F1 DOA?

Hey,

Got a spinpoint F1 delivered from another retailer (unusually it was in an anti-static bag when all my others have come in a plastic blister pack). Fast forward a few days when my psu arrives and I get to the same point on windows install (installing updates) and it goes no further.

I tried this many times over and got rather teasy! Gave up and thought I'd try a 2004 Western Digital 80gb sata drive - windows install was done in minutes and then prompted me to reboot.

My questions are these -

Is the drive dead or something badly wrong with it?
Have I been sent a shabby RMA return given its not how they usually come?

who knows, i understand how you feel, i had a to sent back a western digital drive myself for RMA and then they sent me a drive which did more ticking than before, i guess that is life. Hopefully it should be in warranty....about casing i am not too sure about the plastic clam, ask the retails what is going on???, if you did a smart it should tell tell you the drive power on hrs

Clever ;) I never thought of looking at the smart power on hours :)
