SpinPoint F3 Noisy?

guys, thanks for this thread, i didnt know about the samsung utility so im gona use it on my f1 since its been having issues, i will have to rma it i think but ill give this tool a chance 1st (even though i formatted and chkdsk'd it)

my f1, despite the issue im hving with a bad sector/cluster is very quiet also. ratchet sounds (i had those on an old wd recently) indicates crashing heads. my wd passed scan disk, but failed on boot becasue the issue was with the mechanics not the surface of the platters.

you should rma it no doubt.

My F3 is pretty much silent when idle and reading/writing sequentially, it only makes a slight, low pitched clicking noise when doing lots of small reads/writes, nothing obtrusive.

the F3 is a quiet drive ,i had a seagate and that was a lot more noisey

My F1 1TB is silent when on idle, only to make very slight noises when reading/writing.

Wow it increased seek time performance? Thats impressive!

I just tried AAM and set it to quiet. Does this mean that performance would be detracted?

Think he means that it added 2ms to the seek time i.e made it slower by a further 2ms on top of it's default 8.9ms(?)

really not happy with my F1 750gb spinpoint, has been really loud n clunky, ive tried a few programmes like HDDLife, hd sentinel etc, tried HUTIL from the samsung site but wont support 64bit windows....

Going to be phoning overclockes up 2morrow and see what they suggest...
