Sad to see the thread closed. Would have been better to ban those braking the rules rather than kill the thread. I understand where the Dons are coming from though, having to police the thread.

If people could just stick to talking about the SPL in the SPL thread it would work sadly there are many who come on just to have a go at the other team and say nothing about any games.... :(

I'd still like to be able to talk about things going on in the SPL related to the games without it resorting to bickering (e.g. referees or league restructuring). The thread died the last time we could only talk about the matches.

its very difficult, a minority spoil it for the good folks, we are looking to see what we can do

That would be much appreciated

Plus 1 for me.

As long as there were no personal attacks on people/clubs I dont see why not but some people on this forum think that because it's the internet it's not personal.

I don't think that was ever banned

It was for a while before the new thread and rules were agreed upon due to the amount of suspensions over the referee debate from last season. I'm just hoping that if there is another thread something can be sorted. :)

It would be nice to be able to discuss anything and everything to do with Scottish football but it seemed at one point that the difference between reasoned debate and incendiary posting was blurred beyond recognition so there was a crackdown.

As Rotty says there will be discussions about it.

How about a new thread and those that got the old one closed dont have access to post in it.

A person can't be banned from just one thread, they'd have to have all access to the sub-forum revoked. That is one possibility though.

Hmm one man's joke is another man's offensive remark.

Dare I say it but could we have some West of Scotland mods if possible as our humour in this area can probably cause less hardy souls to recoil in horror. ;)

I see the wink but just to knock this on the head - there have been lots of RTMs regarding the various SPL threads and they're almost invariably from West Coast posters who've seen offence in what has been posted. Whether offence was intended or not is possibly a different matter but the moderation team has to make a judgement call on these things.

I know it was me who RTMed quite a few of the posts I don't mind admitting. Mostly related to Rangers admin which has it's own thread :D

The problem is, certain posters just can't have a football based discussion without bringing other things in to it.

I joined in on the odd occasion and even in replies they were hostile if you defended one of Celtic or Rangers.

Mind boggles, repeat offenders should be banned from posting in the Sub Forum, the SPL thread was ~ok when it wasn't being dragged down.

how about a spl subforum, where anyone with an iq of less than 20 is automatically banned :)

It does seem odd how much hatred is in Scottish threads, sometimes see a bit in the English ones but people dont seem to be as nasty and bring up past events.
