I've seen a few screenies of Splinter Cell games and they look pretty good - I enjoyed the Hitman games so this is looking like a worthy buy. Problem is there seem to be a few of them.

Which SC game should I buy? and any opinions on the game(s) :)

played SC and SC:chaos theory

SC:CT is the best :) Its classic Sam Fisher stealth-em up

thinking about re-buying it myself (saw it 4.99 somewhere) cant remember if i finished it last time i was near the end.

i think SC: Double Agent changes the format a bit (ICBW) so you might want to try one of the previous ones first as an intro to the legend.

£4.99? :o is it quite old? Sounds like it's worth a bash anyhow. I'll take a look... cheers!

Also got a 250GB WD Mybook external drive.

I actually think Chaos Theory is one of the best games of recent years. Don't be put off by the £7.99 price, the graphics still look good - it even uses PS 3.0.

I don't rate Double Agent, though, and you need an uber PC to run it properly, cause without high detail shader turned on you can't see the lighting effects properly. >_>

Before that was the original Splinter Cell and the sequel Pandora Tomorrow, both of which are good games but look very dated by today's standards.

I'd still recommend playing the original and Pandora Tomorrow if you can pick them up. Might look a little dated now (I don't think they look that bad) but they're great games and introduce you properly to the series.

I've not played DA, but all the others are good. CT>SC>PT, but even PT is still damn good. I'd pick them all up and play them in order.

Chaos Thoery is well worth a go. Double agent runs on my pc but the interface and being so power hungry makes it a chore to play.

(Not quite the same but you've played Deus Ex right?)

I bought splinter cell for pc after playing brothers version on the xbox. Prefere the xbox cos of the controls and even tho i had a joypad to play sc on the pc it just didnt feel the same. So i tryed playing it but ended up not playing it after about a hour of playing it which i died a lot and redid a lot lol which got boring as well.

Never did play it again on pc or xbox after that. Shame as i enjoyed it kinda on the xbox. Just brother lives rather far so never got that chance to play it again when i visit him.

Never played Deus Ex but seen it on a few friends' PCs. Just looked like another FPS to me at the time so passed on it.

DO NOT BUY DOUBLE AGENT unless you don't mind bugs and one of the worst console ports ever. Don't get me wrong, I love the previous SP's but not the latest ones - jjust buy the earlier ones and enjoy.

I've completed Pandora Tomorrow (came free with a gfx card) and I wasn't overly impressed. I think the stealthy style doesn't suit me that much although there were some nice touches in the game and it kept me going until the end.

Reading around a bit I found that the original Splinter Cell (and Chaos Theory, for that matter) were made by a different dev studio to PT and supposed to be much better. So I then picked up SC on the cheap and played through the first couple of missions - got stuck at the beginning of some level where you have to drop down and break into an embassy in China or something - I kept on falling to my death and gave up as it didn't really seem much better than PT.

Graphically I don't think they look all that dated. It wasn't much more than a year ago that I tried SC and it still looked OK.

Well to be perfectly frank I wouldn't let either of the SC games I've played sit on the shelf within 1m on the of the holy Deus Ex cd, for fear of contamination. They simply aren't worthy and the number of games in the same class as Deus Ex can probably be counted on your fingers.

That said they are different types of game and I can see why some people would like the SC series. There's really no excuse for not having played Deus Ex however apart from being unable to source a copy :)
