Hey there. I spilt about 3 fingers of JD on my 'microsoft keyboard with finger print reader'.

Now the 'up volume' button doesn't seem to work. I don't think the thing had dried out yet, but any idea how I could fix this if it is messed up in the morning.

Or....alternatively, could you spec me a new keyboard, not too expensive. I type a lot, and programme too, so flat key would be good, but volume up and down are essential.

Cheers lads. :)

Heretic.. oh wait a sec.. it was JD... okay, you're forgiven.

Personally I would hope that it dries out okay, beyond that choosing a keyboard is very much personal preference. I happen to think my G15 is great (v1) and I type a lot, but others don't like it. Also, your budget for a replacement would also be of interest

Recently i spilled so much juice on my keyboard that the keys were underwater. i immediately unplugged the keyboard and ran it under water for a while to clean out anything sticky!

I then put it into a radiator and used a spare for a couple of days. After this i plugged it in - it was still wet somewhere inside, as some keys didnt work, and a lot of them pressed 2 buttons at one.

I opened the keyboard up and sure enough, between 3 layers of plastic there was still loads of water. after drying that portion out carefully the keyboard came out fine and perfect - there isnt much that can be permanently damaged. i would advise leaving it somewhere warm and dry for a while

if you do open it up, be careful as the rubber membrane stuff might sometimes just be 100+ individual pieces of rubber - a complete pain in the arse to put back together. the advantage of opening it was at the same time i gave it a nice thorough clean (man can keyboards get disgusting!)

For future reference, JD isn't whisky it's whiskey :)

I'm using one of those at the moment, very nice keyboard for the money.

i thought it was a bourbon. but meh - sure the keyboard enjoyed it more than i would.

apparently Kentucky is a dry state - which means the residents can't drink one of the main products they produce. (reckon they're smarter than the consumers :) )

Ahahhahahaha nice :D

It's probably going to be fine in the morning, hope you will be too :P

Spilling whiskey is basically alcohol genocide and you should be punished accordingly. I recommend the sentence of 50 lashings...

...of Gin! Huzzaah!

I've spilled gravy on a keyboard before. I just took the KB apart and washed it out and dried it really good....never had any problems.

Good news guys. My keyboard was fine in the morning and all keys work. =P

I really should clear my desk next time so that I don't spill things over it.

I may get a Saitek Eclipse 2 anyway, I've being thinking about upgrading my keyboard and mouse for a while.

Cheers.
