Hi guys,

What is the best way to split the audio output that comes from different programs?

The main reason I want to do this is for recording purposes. For instance I want the ability to only record the output of a game as oppose to all output which can include teamspeak etc. Is this possible?

Thanks!

Right click the Audio icon in the system tray, or go Control Panel > Sound. Go to the Recording tab Stereo Mix should be in there, if not right click and Show Disabled Devices.

Edit: Mis-read. Not sure on that one.

Ok stereo mix is there but what am I supposed to do with it once enabled?

Thanks :)

Thanks for the response those videos are just what I am after!

A couple of questions if you don't mind. Are there any free software alternatives to Virtual Audio Cable? It amazes me that someone hasn't made a free version.

If I want to go down the stereo mix route do I have to have a sound card in order to get two stereo mixes? Which would you say is the best option?

Finally are there sound cards that have any other way of doing this? Like a special feature or something?

Thanks again :)

Far as I know only virtual audio cables :(
For stereo mix you need a sound card and onborad both witch support stereo mix. So far I have owned 3 Asus sound cards and they all supported stereo mix.
