Spore release date confirmed!

From watching some of the more recent videos, it looks a lot more like a childrens game. Hopefully it will be amazing, but I have my doubts now. :(
 
Of course EA will have dumbed the game down, no doubt they've also added in some crappy techno soundtrack too. You have factor in the lowest common denominator don't you, i.e. the chav!

As much as I hate The Sims, it is an incredibly successful games franchise.
 
For some reason i see this being another black and white. Loads of hype and will come out to a bunch of mixed reviews.

I very much doubt it. Will wright has called the shots not a developer. One reason it's taken so long. A lot of people have played the game during it's development and I haven't seen a bad review.

Hopfully he will do spore 2 MMO style.
 
So many pessimists in here :p reviewers have been allowed to play the game recently and the early previews are very favourable, the depth doesn't seem to be in the gameplay, more in the endless customisations and multiple universes that interlink.

At the end of the day do they really care about making the hardcore gamers happy? the Sims doesn't and thats arguably the most popular game of all time. These days the casual gamer is a far more important demographic and much more lucrative, just because you can rinse through a game in a week doesn't mean it's not got any depth as for a casual gamer that could take months.

Fingers crossed on this one.

Computer game reviewer's have been shown time and again to give good ratings to games with lots of backing from large developers, mainly because if they don't they won't be allowed to enter another preview for that company ever again.
