Spotify - No invite needed

Just came across this.. normally you need to be invited along by a premium member to join but if you go here you can just sign up and download

They limited the number of new accounts by requiring an invite code for new users. Quite simple really.

That link gives:

So it looks like you do need to be invited to me.

Weird. When I click on the OP's direct link, it lets me make a new account without an invite.

But when I follow the links from the homepage to sign-up a new account, it asks for an invite.

Edit: Just tried one of the codes, not available in your country was the reply. Sometimes I hate living in Ireland.

Currently it is supposed to be an invite only period (they've switched between invite and open a few times) but using the link in the OP is a loophole that lets you register an account without an invite still.

Doing it via the site itself will ask you for an invite.

So with Spotify, I can download songs legally? Or only stream them? If only streaming them, what's wrong with using YouTube?

Spotify is much much better quality than YouTube, it's also far easier to use for playing music than YouTube is.
