OK, i already subscribed to Spotify. so i'm trying to setup a routine so that when I say "alexa goodnight" she will turn on the bedroom lamps set volume to 5 and play my own made-up playlist which is called David's Songs .. and that's the problem. It will not play any of my playlists .. but if I change the routine to play any artist. I name or any song I want. It will play no problem at all. The problem is, it will not play your own playlists .. amazon technical support have told me that it won't play the playlists from your library on spotify. and spotify say it should .. anyway please should I forget about the routine, and stick with Spotify or go over to Amazon Music where they see it will work. thank you very much for reading my post. I hope I have made it clear as to what I want

I've no idea sorry.

But it would be amusing if it went wrong played "David's Heavy Metal" Playlist at volume 100 and started flashing the lamp

How important is this little bed time routine vs general usage of Spotify? Assuming you use it at other times of the time like in the car or at the gym?

Spotify is a better all rounder, nicer app, good for discovering new artists and so on.

Spotify is the better music app.
The bedroom should be a tech-free place for optimal sleeping.
I agree that Spotify is the better music app. However, I think having an automated bedtime routine is great.

Currently, I use headphones and listen to sleep stories on my phone, but in the future, I'd like to have some home automation as per the OP's idea.

An automated bedtime routine is a new one for me, I’ll need to look this up and see what else I can do with the 30 seconds I’m saving from opening the app and pressing play. :D

Amazon Music is the worst of the lot, their app sucks balls.

I've also used Tidal for quite some time and that was great, and Deezer is rated very highly by family. Spotify being the benchmark of course, but I'd simply pick whichever is cheapest.

I got a free 6 month trial of Amazon Music Unlimited. Given that Amazon Music will stream lossless and Spotify will not I made the switch and used it for about 3 months before I got fed up and switched back to Spotify. Sound quality Vs Spotify is excellent but the app is AWFUL. Hopeless compatability with Sonos equipment, constantly freezing and closing with no warning. Worse sound quality but much better integration with everything that I use.
