Spotify useage ?

Does anyone here use Spotify and if so, can you answer some questions for me?

At home, I have added all my music as local files which is great, now what I want to be able to do is access all this music from my other PC... I understand I have to create Playlists to do this? In which case I have done. How does this work? Have they been uploaded to Spotify server or something as I can access some of the files from my laptop downstairs but some I cant, as it says I added them as a local file, which is true, but for some reason I can listen to some and not others..

And how does it work on a mobile, do I need a much bigger memory card? or is the music "streamed" ?

You can only access some, as you can only stream the ones spotify have permission to do so.

For the ones that they don't, you need to have the file locally - hence why you can do it on your original but not your laptop.

As for how it works on a mobile, I have no clue sorry!

Hmmmmmmm, ok, sounds like this isnt gonna do what I want it to do then

I thought I could just put them all into Spotify once and then access them all wherever and whenever I like.

I dont really wanna have to copy over the entire contents locally just to listen to them, I might as well just put them on a USB stick and use WMP

If you're on the same Lan just share the folder with the music in it.

If you want to stream to multiple devices on the same Lan, some form of Upnp media server is what you need. Dedicated software or Foobar with the Upnp plugin will do.

If you want to access it all from anywhere then you will need to be serving the tunes to your public facing IP address. Which will mean you need to be running some form of server software anyway. There are various ways to do this.

Look/search for info about media streaming and such, or wait for someone who bothers to do it on here to post.

You could use something like subsonic.org running on the PC that holds your media.
I have a server running at home 24/7 with, subsonic - This means that I can access my music from any other PC via a web interface, or from my phone with a dedicated app.
