We're in the process of buying a new build and the options list is becoming very expensive already. One of the biggest expenses so far is the spotlights. They want £70 per light.

That seems expensive to me given that the lights themselves can be bought for under a tenner each. If we wanted to get an electrician in afterwards, what sort of price would be average?

Ideally we'd want 9x in the kitchen, 4x in each of the 3 bathrooms and depending on price, an additional lot in the halls. So between 20 and 30 lights I reckon.

Thanks. :)

Speak to the site manager, who if he's a top bloke, will put you in touch with the site spark and you can arrange it all yourself.

Otherwise you'll have to have ceilings reskimmed and it's generally a lot more hassle afterwards.

Agreed, the developer wanted £50 per fitting. Think I paid the spark about £10 to wire for & install each unit (I supplied the fitting & LED bulb). Also got power & light to the garage sorted, light in the loft, shaver sockets etc at a fraction/free.

We've just moved into a house and I quickly decided the 50watt spotlights had to go, we had 29 of them.

Replaced them with Zep1 lights (pistonheads will find you a seller that will do them for £32 each, he calls it trade price, but in honesty it's saving £6 per light from other online sellers) and not only do they look better, give off a better light they will also save a massive amount in electric, and should pay for themselves within 2 years.

Of course they have been fitted by my father-in-law so didn't have to pay for installation.
