spray paint

£2.50 for a PROPER portion. I don't do small or medium ;)

I'd want a battered sausage aswell for that price!!

OT: What's a good technique for refurbing, spraying isn't too bad as I've done a few parts in my time now and it's getting a lot better. Couple of my alloys have corroded, what's the best technique to get a good surface for priming?

Large then, that'll be 1.20, 2.50 is a total con ;)

Yeah, you can get large chips, a can of pop and a t-cake for £2.50 around here.

As for paint, i got 2 x 500ml cans of Simoniz satin black for £5 from ebay. They sell Simoniz grey primer for the same price. Not sure on other colours but I'm sure you'll find it cheaper than Halfrauds.

I'm not sure spray cans would be the best stuff to use for alloys though.

Now I know that Ive been a bit of a **** on here but Ill stop now.

begs the question why the need to be a **** in the first place?

Talk about wind people up the wrong way.

I'd hope, by the answers in this thread, you see that most of us here are Motors enthusiasts who simply wish to help others and / or compare notes etc.

:)

Central London prices FTL.

In my opinion there's nothing sexier than a nice set of powder coated wheels. It's well worth the expense. Rattle cans seem to work OK on steel wheels but it's a different story with alloys.

Agreed, I think you would need to get them etch primed as normal paint wont stick to alloy. You can get etch primer in rattle cans but its not great really. Ive used it for spraying alu case parts and an alu air rifle silencer and it works but it will chip quite easily.

The amount of time it would take removing the wheels, masking the tyres, spraying multiple coats and flatting off in between etc. I think £112 for powder coating is a bargain for a much better, harder wearing finish IMO.

I did it el-cheapo on a volvo 480 turbo I had.

Gave them a decent key, some bog standard primer, sanded it a bit, then colour, sanded a bit, then gave them a dusting of clear.

Worked out fine, was all halfrauds stuff, and was not expensive :)
