What to do on a spring clean?
I've just uninstalled about 30+ programs.
Going to use ccleaner to delete temp files and clean *** reg.
I've got OO to defrag the drives.

Is there anything else you would do?
Also is there any guides on making xp boot faster?
And how do you get rid of the vista boot screen. I had it on beta, I can still boot into vista but it's limited as the free trial thing has expired.

Thanks for any replys

Use the tweaking guide stickied in this forum section. I pretty much use that as my new install / pc update / clean up bible. Obviously your not formatting, but it still gives a great deal of info on things you can be doing to improve pc speed.

XPs boot time can be shortened a lot by simply disabling the ports or onboard peripherals you don't use in the BIOS.

You've done the main things. Little tweaks won't make much of a difference so it depends if you want to spend a few hours carefully disabling services and ports to potentially shave off a few seconds here and there. I've found this can also be a major pain in the ass further down the line when you actually come to use the port or service you've turned off, and your application refuses to work and you can't for the life of you figure out why, until you realise it could be the tinkering you did 6 months ago. :p

RAM is cheap these days, I would imagine sticking another 1GB, would give you a nice little boost without breaking the bank? :)

Got all day to fiddle, whilst watching a few films. Already got 2GB so until I upgrade to vista, there's not much point.
