No mate, MY pants are moist

It's just a direct cut and paste from somewhere else isnt it penski? You've not even bothered to add your own comments - its clear the comments there are not yours as you don't post like that.

Opening line of his post, Fox:

Emphasis is my own.

So, I'd guess you're right. Is it quite as much fun to point out when he admits it anyway? ;)

The very first pic... Am I missing something, what's the point of bubble arches and wide wheels, when you fit stretched rubber? Isn't that just counterproductive? Presumably you could get the exact same tyre footprint with a smaller rim in normal arches. Not as wide set... But then again, if it had normal tyres that'd widen the car's total rolling width, the stretched tyres narrow it.

I don't get the stretched tyre thing at the best of times, it just looks daft to me, but usually I'll chalk it up to taste...

Some really nice cars there! love the pinstriping, I know the guy who striped a lot of those cars, nice to see some getting posted around.

cheers Penski

Go to the Retro Rides forums and seach for the last 500 posts by a guy called Slater. You'll find the build thread for that 505.

Also go to www.retroscenemag.com and read the Wheels Day feature - there are a fair few pics there.

Basically, the guy has applied Japanese Gruchan styling to a pug 505 and it works...

To fit 12" wide wheels on the car, you need the massive arches.

I have to say that for me this is a milestone posting by Penski, I really like the majority of the cars but I fully agree with the above. Silly little rollerskate wheels in huge bubble arches for the lose.

Of course you do, but you don't need 12" wide wheels to fit what looks like about 8 inch wide tyres. So is it just a styling exercise then? Fair enough if it is, that gets me back to taste, I thought at first the wide stance was for traction not just looks. I think it looks ridiculous but what does that matter, it's not my car. Just was wondering about the reasoning more.

They're race tyres...About 9.5" wide iirc.

Yes, it is for looks...Hence the comment 'it sprints too' ;)

Some awesome looking cars there, love your car threads! I let a friend with an old 6 series BMW look through your Bimmer Love thread and he was walking round cross legged all the rest of the day... :D
