It's like something out of Nazi Germany to prevent any dissent, had they had computers back then it would made the Gestapo's job a whole lot easier. Terrorists in the middle east are the ones oppressing us though of course.

If we're so whiter than white why are we so hellbent on punishing anyone who releases any secret information to the public? Why don't Russia have so many of these 'whistleblowers' coming out of the woodwork speaking against the Russian state? or China? could it be that they aren't up to no good behind the scenes and thus have no reason to pull the wool over their peoples eyes?

You're kidding about this last bit aren't you?
China just arrested and charged their own security chief.
They happily charge or kill anyone who is a member of the party and has a falling out with those above them.
In Russia you never hear about them as they just go missing.

Russia invaded and annexed an entire state recently. I don't thin their right to privacy or data laws are developed or need to be in any fashion. They catch you, they do to you whatever they want.
 
I'll take it and fight it from behind bars at the tax payers expense just so I can annoy the tax payers while I'm annoying the judiciary too.

1 it would be a minor cost keeping you in jail
2 you wouldn't be getting legal aid
3 you'd have lost your job during this time
4 you'd be hard pressed to find a lawyer even willing to take the case
5 people have tried and failed in the past.


There are more but your plan basically leaves you in prison for 5 years + complete broke/in debt when you come out.

And of course you'd be branded either a terrorist or paedophile while in prison (why else wouldn't you give up the passwords cries the daily mail) so probably a tthroughly vandalised and destroyed house too when you get our
