I run spybot on my system every few days and it never finds anything...is vista 64 that good or is SB flawed?

I've been wondering that recently. Normally it'd pick up tracking cookies etc but recently it hasn't been picking up anything. Re-installed it yesterday and same thing.

I have found that SB is no longer as good as it use to be, I found this out while i was still running XP.

I have often run SB adn cleared everything, then immediatly after run otehr programmes and found a lot mroe stuff to be removed.

I persoanlly think SB is just getting slow.

try Super AntiSpyware one of the better Antispyware progs despite the dodgy name!

the free version doesn’t offer real time protection but has the same scanning as the pro version, i use it to clean infected pcs and run the pro version on my Vista x64 pc ,its a goood app with a small footprint and very effective

Now adays, unless you sit there downloading crap, opening spam attachments, visiting dodgy websites and not keeping Windows updated, it's unlikey you'll pickup much in the way of Spyware.

it's probably just immunized your system against the crap cookies to stop them getting on your machine

spybot s&d immunize, and spywareblaster are both excellent (work fine together) at this

plus, you're not likely to be going on crap website in the first place i'd imagine, generally, only noobs get spyware now

s&d does have that tee tree oil or what ever the **** it is now, you can untick it on the install

real men have 80ppp, stubbles and no protection in sight.

I have SB and Ad-aware and have SpywareBlaster installed and run em every month... I've not got any problems recently except when the wife ignored the warning messages when installing some freebee garden designer thing she downloaded!...

Had to completely re-format and install the PC from scratch because of that!!..

I'm sure there is a lesson to be learned there. Average girls are ok with computers, but don't let the wife/gf touch it!

I take back what I said about Spybot. I just installed it again on another PC and noticed the tea timer app is automatically ticked and it's that running in the background. My bad - I love Spybot Search and Destroy. Hard.

Edit: except with 117,000 items to check for now  it does take a while :(
