Spyder & Controless LCDs

I got a chap a new Samsung SM-970P a month or more ago and he wanted to calibrate it with his Spyder.

He sent it back recently because he couldn't get it calibrated and he stated he had several pro photographers try it and they couldn't get it to work.

They advised him to get an LCD with controls.

Personally I think this is a load of rubbish cause when I first set it up for him, I go it calibrated with the spyder and for some reason he keeps messing it up.

Are there issues with controless LCD's and calibration?

TFT are not the easiest things to calibrate compared to CRT, I had 2 spyders, they were both rubbish, ended up getting a gretagmacbeth iOne. The more manual control you have over the screen the better really.

You'd think for the price of a Spyder, it could do a decent job.

I know, they kept calibrating my screen so it looked like it had the red channel on full blast. Everything looked pink
