My brothers computer has background stuck on it which is a link so when u click on it, it brings up some crap website, anyone know how i can get rid of it, theres also three icons on his desktop which are also links to crappy websites, they are all related to spyware removers and privacy protectors

Anyone any ideas, I'm thinking they are in the registry somewhere.

Don't forget to download updates for spybot and immunise to protect your system first. Without updates it only blocks 745 (approx) nasties but with latest updates it now blocks 30,163.

It adds domains known to contain bad contents into the Restricted Zone, thus blocking installation of executable code from those pages; it also adds block options for bad executable code by its ID. (copied that last bit from spybot help :) )

It may help to run spbot in safemode as this can help in the removal on spyware, but remember no anti-spyware program finds 100% of infections. Some stuff does require some semi-expert (google searches) knowledge to remove all traces.

Once I have got all my anti-spyware & antivirus updated I disconnect my broadband router as some spyware/trojans will download more infections onto your pc.

Whenever I run Spybot I always get something called 'Log' which just won't delete, even when ran in safe mode. Any ideas? Thanks.
Is it a threat? If it isn't, try right-clicking on it and set Spybot SD to ignore that detection in future scans.

It's probably not as it appears on both my laptop and PC. I'll set it to ignore then.

Thanks :)

It doesn't sound dangerous and I've never had that detected before. Setting Spybot to ignore it should be OK for you. I'd run an av scan and perhaps check your PC with Ad-aware (old version) just to make sure that there is nothing nasty on your PC. The fact that it is on your laptop as well makes me think its just some file like a log!
