old system:

Asus P5B-D
2GB Geil 6400 ULL
MSI 7900GTO
520w OCZ Modstream

new system:

Asus P5B-D
4GB Geil 6400 ULL
BFG 8800GTX OC2
780w OCZ ModXstream

when i power down the pc, just as it turns off, i hear a squeeeek! lasts about 1 second, it decreases in pitch. Caps maybe?

Yeah, I think it is the PSU powering down before the gfx card is ready for it, gfx emits a low power warning, then it stops.

everything is at stock.

on a side note, i can remember connecting my 6800nu without the molex in and it beeped at me. same thing?

Yep, totally safe.

Kinda yeah, no power to the card so it beeps. It's like this instance but the machine is shutting down and the PSU is dropping power to the graphics before it's shut down so a beep happens - so yes it's the same deal but in your case it's for a split second whilst the machine turns off.

i have an Akasa fan mate which beeps when the fans go below a certain speed. when the PC shuts down, the fans stop before the controller does and it goes Beee..
