When ever I come to a stop from a slow speed my brakes seem to make a loud squealing noise, someone said this is because I need new brake pads but surely this cant be the case on a car that only has 7000 miles?

I've booked it in for Thursday but just wanted to know what to expect.

My breaks squeal at low speeds also. Especially when i'm reversing. So annoying at night time when it's dead quiet and i probably wake the whole world up.

It started after i got my breaks changed about 5k miles ago. I asked the guys at the tyre place to check my breaks when i was getting my tyre's changed and he said the breaks looked perfect.

Really doesn't sound healthy tho.

Certain pads squeal i think, however I would not expect oem pads to do so. Maybe needs more copper grease on the back?

Depends how hard you are on the brakes

You can destroy a fresh set of brake pads in one track day...

Squealing can either be due to the type of compound used in the pad material (read that as cheap pads) or as you said... worn down to either the wear band (if it has one) or right down to the backing pad..
If it's not due to wear then you only really have two choices.
Change the pads to better quality ones or apply some copper slip to the backing pad and mounting points, but that rarely lasts.

The rear pads on my Accord used to do this, only in reverse like yours. I had them changed out around 6 months ago and now no squeal in reverse.

This is much more common since the removal of asbestos from brake pads.

Try giving the brakes a damn good hiding, after that try copper/silver grease behind the pads and in the rails that hold the pads in place.

I fully cleaned out the caliper, piston etc... got rid of all the dust that seemed to have built up since new, then applied copperslip to the back and any other area where it looked like the pad would/could touch.
