Hi all

I was looking to buy the Samsung 850 Evo (250GB) SSD and wanted to know make sure I had everything all sorted out in terms of understanding what I need to purchase for my rig.

Firstly, my current case is a BitFenix Shinobi (German Edition). It came with a single 'SSD adapter' and I cannot remember whether the screws came with the case too? I asked a few friends and they all mentioned that the SSD doesn't come with any screws at all. If I had to purchase some more screws, which would I have to use?

Secondly, I already own an SSD and was looking into purchasing the Akasa SSD & HDD adapter. Will this work fine for my current SSD and the one I am going to purchase in the short future?

Finally, will this SATA 3 cable do fine?

Thanks

Get this SSD instead:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Crucial BX100 250GB SSD SATA 6Gbps 7mm Solid State Drive (CT250BX100SSD1) £84.98
Total : £93.68 (includes shipping : £7.25).

Save yourself £20, and the above will be fine. I would just sit the new SSD ontop of the old with a bit of double sided sticky tape or bluetack/anything.

The cable will be fine, check your old motherboard box for one to save you £3! :)

Cheers for the reply! Much appreciated. I don't think there was anything extra in my motherboard box but I'll have to have a look anyway just to make sure :D

Regards attaching the SSD, I presume I'll have to use some sort of screws? Are there any I can purchase or?

The adapter you linked will allow you to fit 2 SSD's in 1 normal 3.5" HDD bay.

I imagine you will have some screws for your SSD with your case, I have used that adapter before but I can't remember if it came with any screws :(.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure where I've placed all the screws from my case so I wondered whether there was anywhere I could purchase some from :\ I could ask politely whether the kind folks at OcUK would be able to provide some along with the rest of the gear I'm going to purchase.

the crucial drives usually come with a mounting bracket not sure about screws but you should have spares that come with your case

If you can't find any PM me an address and I will find a stamp and an envelope and send you enough to mount 2 SSD's. I might even have some in black too ;). No cost.

(I run my own business, the amount of screws I have is insane so I don't mind helping out).

Oh, thanks a lot, appreciate it! I'll give you a shout if I can't find any :D

No probs, also there's no difference between a decent sata 2 cable and sata 3 cable ;). Depending how many they gave you with your mobo you may have a spare one.

Some mobo manufactures are tight and will only give you 2 !

Just realised I've already used the two that game with my mobo for the optical drive + HDD :)
