Hello,
I think my ssd is on the way out.
The PC randomly freezes and upon pressing the reset button on the case to reboot i just get a black screen saying Device not accessible at the bottom.
Then if I power the pc off for a few minutes it boots ok.
It has been doing this for a few weeks and from what I hear it sounds like the ssd failing.

Im thinking of getting a better one but dont know what would be best.
Was thinking of this Crucial RealSSD M4 512GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT512M4SSD2)

I have a Asus Maximus Extreme Z IV board, would this work ok in it an dis it a good drive.

Also the one I have now is bolted to the bottom of my antec 1200 case.
Is it just a question of bolting the new one in the same place or would I need a mounting bracket?

Any advice please?

Thanks :)

I have a Sandisk 120GB I was using until today for Windows Vista, I just upgraded that to a Crucial M500 240GB drive from OCUK and I cloned my SATA 240 HD over to a Vertex 2 480GB drive I also purchased from OCUK. Both are working fine in the same system, but I have a Z77 MB running an i7 3770K at just over 4GHZ. Even though the OCZ Vertex drive is only SATA 2 it logs in and boots pretty fast. The idead of booting into an operating system without waiting for preset protocols over data and head settings just appealed to me.
The M500 has Data encryption built in even though Vista and Windows 7 doesn't support it means thatif I decide to put Windows 8 or another O/S on later that does support it means I have at least a head start. My Motherboard is an ASUS P8Z77-V LX. one of the cheapest on the market but not the worst.
If you wish to know if it is supported You can go to Crucial's site to test your motherboard on he SSD drive advisor tool. Though I doubt you would have any issues installing the drive and getting it to work because these drives install like a dream. All you have to do it update the firmware every now and again. Just make sure you backup before any firmware update. Any good hardware specialist will tell you this.
