Hi all, I want to get a SSD but my mobo is sata 2 ( specs in sig)
I've just had a look, I have 1 PCI slot free or a PCI-
express ( x4 I think ) slot free.

A 64 GB SSD would be ok, can you recommend and sata3 card and SSD.

Thanks

go for a 128gb minimum for os,60gb is a struggle with space, have one myself

Samsung 840 non pro would suit you,or a crucial m4,whatever ones cheapest

I agree with wazza300. Though you will most probably choose to install all your applications on your HDD, a lot of the app data will get dumped on your SSD, or C Drive, meaning it will be constantly growing in size, slowly but surely. I highly recommend a 120gb as a minimum.

If you check Overclockers main site or Scan, their SSD's are incredibly reasonable at present. I'll be surprised if they don't come down even more than they already have done by the middle of next year!

Ok cheers ill check prices, so even with sata 2 I'll still get a big performance increase going to SSD.

SATA3 card using pcie interface. it will have higher read and write speed. but the random(4K) speed will be lower than the native SATA2 interface.
