Just bought myself a 60g SSD and was wondering if there is anything i should do when setting it up for the first time? It is 2nd hand.

I will be using photoshop so should i use a different disc as the 'scratch disc'

Thanks

just do a clean install of windows onto your ssd, unplug any other hdd's first, after its done plug in your old windows hdd and set the ssd as first boot device in the bios and you can access your old hdd for any files/music/video ect that you need, that would be the simplest way just leave the old os install on it

Wondering same thing as OP.

This sounds like the most reasonable way of doing it, yet would programs that weren't going to be transferred to the SSD still run on the old drive?

@ skurlo, some programs would run on old hdd some would need re-installing but in an emergency if your ssd wouldnt boot ect you would have a back up os on the old hdd,its up to you you can drag what you need across to your ssd and save your important files ect to dvd's and format your old hdd,the way i suggested saves you all this hassle, you can delete off what you dont need ect

if the program was installed on the previous windows install it will need reinstalling to for the new install to see it.
