Ok just got my SSD from OCUK this morning, very good service and well packed,

I've been reading around on different forums etc and I'm wondering is it worth doing all the tweaks like moving system folders etc?

I'm definitely doing the basic tweaks like ACHI, activating TRIM, disabling hibernation, defrag and indexing.

Is there anything else I should be doing?

only have the SSD plugged in when installing windows. plug the others in after.

trim is activated automaticly if you use windows 7.

thats about it other than the stuff you mentioned

ok bump I need help,

I cant get windows to install with my SSD and my current system.

I set the bios ACHI and then booted from my USB flash drive that has windows 7 on it. It gets to the first restart grand, once it restarts it doesnt get back into the windows setup screen.

I've got the following
Intel core i7 930
Gigabyte ga-x58-usb3
6gb corsair 1600mhz ram
Evga Gtx 570
FSP Everest 1010W psu (I know crap but cant afford a new one now)
Crucial M4 64GB

Any idea why? It installs fine on annother system

Do you have any other sata devices plugged in (e.g. dvd drive)? It's a long shot but check if they are plugged in next to each other on the board - if they are you could try changing one of them to a different sata connection.

After the first restart you have to go in to bios and change the boot order to boot off the ssd.

+1

Or just pull the USB drive out once it reboots. As all the files it needs to do the install are added at the start of the installation process, so you can yank out the USB drive on the first reboot and it should boot from the SSD.
