Hi Guys,

I am hoping someone might have a clue as to what I am seeing here.

I have a Latitude E5520 for work.

I moved original HDD to to a CD caddy as my second drive and put a SSD (Corsair Force 240GB) into the hdd bay.

I have installed windows 7 64bit and have checked and it is ACHI.

However when I run HD Tune I am seeing this:

I get the same values when running my HDD. Something must be wrong here?

Might be a problem with the controller on it as looking around the reviews with the original HDD remarked how poor performance was for a 7200rpm disc - but they still managed faster speeds than that.

Might want to experiment with the AHCI controller drivers and see if theres an update or if the default MS one provides better performance.

looks about right for sata2 speeds? you should use atto benchmark though for sandforce controlled drives

it should be around the 260-270mb read/write mark

hmmmm Strange, and I noticed this with HD Tune as well.

It doesnt seem to know what controller i am using.

How do I check which it is using?

Also, I am not sure I understand how to read the ATTO benchmark, what MBs did i get there?

Thanks for your help guys

You can see the red and green bars, Write and Read respectively, are labelled Transfer Rate - MB/s. The values on the right are in KB/s. Divide by 1024 and you will get MB/s.

I was not able to install the drivers you linked, probably because I dont think I have a gigabyte board on the dell laptop. But I have got Intel Rapid Storage Tech now installed.

Speeds are all the same at the moment.

I think they were for series 9 chipset, idk as it doesn't say till I post the link (usually they are universal)

speeds look ok to me,but atto seems strange, ive never had to divide it by 4
