Been looking around at various SSD's - still on the fence as to which to go for - but I've noticed a lot of variation on this 'buffer size'. Some have 128mb+, some have 0mb. Google didn't really turn up anything, so whats the performance differences?

from what ive read on cache on ssds only improve the burst rate number on benchmarks

they dont really affect performance in real world use

Sandforce SSDs dont use a buffer, therefore say 0mb. They use other tech instead which I cant remember off hand. They are very good SSDs though

I'm so stupidly torn between the C300's and the V 2E's its not funny. I'm attracted to the SATA 6Gb/s, so it would be somewhat futureproof, but the appauling writes on those kinda put me off.

I've seen the thread vs'ing the two but godamn its not much help :p

One had buffer and one didn't, hence the topic. Eeny meeny miny mo......

Coin toss! They are both good drives. I went for the C300 as its intended use was as a boot drive. That and its cheaper (I got mine for just under £110 inc a bracket and the vertex at the time was £150+ so was price difference was big).

Im sure either would serve you well. Wait till one is on a good offer and buy it!
