I'm looking to get myself my very first SSD, been reading up and they seem pretty nifty.

I've got a grand total of 1.5tb of internal space available on my desktop so I dont think I would need a really big SSD as I'm planning on just using it for my windows install.

Any recomendations on a minimum size of drive? Mainly just for windows, office and a steam install with the games on annother drive?

Also is it worth waiting for the new intel G3 and the vertex 3 drives even though my motherboard doesnt support sata 6gbs

Don't know anything about the intel G3 and the vertex 3 drives but I can recommend the Crucial C300 SSD's. I have just built my first system with one and the speed applications open is amazing, blink of an eye and they are there! ;)

They are supposed to bring about better pricing in terms of cost v capacity but that remains to be seen. I just went ahead and bought an OCZ Vertex 2E myself the other week and the difference is simply amazing.

Only regret is.... I should have bought one ages ago :D
