Hi

Previously had an Intel 80GB SSD. I did not plan a mobo upgrade until next year so off these very forums bought the 160GB version. Great drive, I just wanted more capacity to tide me over.

However, things have changed and I have a pile of new components coming next week Z68 mobo 2500K etc.

My question is that if I resell my SATA 2 160GB SSD and upgrade to a SATA 3 SSD such as the Crucial M4. Will I notice a real difference in day to day use?

I really like the Intel SSD performance and dont really want to sell it. However, as I am now going for a new build I keep thinking I should bite the bullet and also upgrade the SSD.

Im a tight "£^^&& and don't want to spend more money if I will sit at PC and think "oh its not that much faster than my Intel SATA 2 drive".

Advice appreciated.

Just on that alone would convince me that buying what you suggested would be a waste of money. Unless you like playing with benchmarks, and plenty seem to do, then just save your money as the differences would be absolutely negligible.

I wouldn't bother. SSD to another SSD isn't the upgrade that HD to SSD is.

Undoubtedly the M4 will be faster but it wont be by much in anything but benchmarks.
