It would seem I’m currently in the process of upgrading my PC, having just recently gone from 6 to 16GB RAM and switched to a GTX 970. This now brings me to finally investing in an SSD.
The real question I have is what is the better option based on what I consider to be my 3 options regarding moving to SSD’s based on my current configuration.
Note: I will be carrying out a complete re-install of the OS etc. rather than a migration of data from existing HHD’s to the SSD’s
Option 1
Have just one large SSD (1.0TB) with everything on it.
Option 2
Two SSD’s (250GB & 500GB) allowing me to split up the OS, applications and data.
Option 3
Same as Option 2 but with two 500GB SSD’s
This leads me to a few questions…
With the speed of SSD’s as they are is there anything gained by going down the Option 2 & 3 route? That is to split the OS from my applications and data and having it on a dedicated SSD?
Regarding the SSD’s I was looking at Samsung, in particular: -
Samsung 500GB 850 EVO
Does anyone know what the difference is between the EVO and PRO and if the difference in price is worth it by what is gained and if it’s even noticeable?
Look forward to reading your thoughts and hopefully advice.
Regards
