Posting from my mobile whilst windows installs so bear with me.

I bought one of the original 64gb crucial secs and it finally died last night. It would get to the win login screen but just show a line of corrupt pixels at the top. I managed to repair it but it would just corrupt the system volume again straight away!

So afterwards little research I went and bought a crucial m4 128gb :) Luckily it came with the latest. 0009 firmware preinstalled so no faffing about!

To the point of this post, can I save any data from the broken ssd?
Foolishly I moved data from my backups instead of copying when I recently did my new build >_<

Put it in an external dock and it connects fine. I can get into all folders but my user folder which requires permissions. I grant myself those permissions and then the adress bar just fills up until it is all green. Nothing happens. ><

I have ownership of all the files, the folder properties lists it as empty or 0 bytes. The SSD will freeze and disappear if I attempt to enter it. Checkdisk does the same to the disk, freezes then it disappears.

I tried this program http://www.roadkil.net/program.php?ProgramID=29 that program itself froze so I'm going to just write it off. a lot of stuff I would have liked to have kept but I guess I'll never see it again :(

I bought it from ocuk 26 Oct, 2009. So it's quite old. I was then going to say I doubt its in warranty but I went to crucial.com and checked http://www.crucial.com/uk/company/termsofsale.aspx#warranty?click=true

They state

The warranty period for all internal Solid State Drive products is three (3) years from the original date of shipment, except for the Crucial 225 Series Solid State Drive products which shall have a warranty period of five (5) years from the original shipment date.

So that means I'm covered right? :D

I bought it from ocuk, you reckon I could do it through them?

edit: Heh I just noticed on the box it says 5 year limited warranty too. See this is why I'm a box hoarder!

I've been talking to them since the 22nd. I received one email to try out a whole slew of things. I did that and replied back, I then received a mail from another person to try something else. I did that and replied back. Now I'm not getting any response from them what so ever. I'm going to have to call them to actually get this sorted out when I get some free time.

I received an email telling me I could RMA the drive back but I had to send it via special delivery which cost me about £5. I received the replacement today and it was indeed an M4 64gb drive! So very happy :)

Unfortunately I needed a new drive straight away so I had already purchased a 128gb m4 which I'm very happy with so this ones going on MM!
