Hi. I had a hp convertible laptop with a ssd and crashed it beyond repair. i want to put into a normal acer 17" laptop with a 2.5" connector, can I do that in some way?

It would depend on what SSD the laptop had in it. Post model numbers and/or photos of what you're dealing with.

Is this for a permanent install or just to try and get data off it?

BTW what does 'crashed beyond repair' mean?

Drop it down the stairs basically. I will post the SSD model and my Acer's mode tomorrow and see if can be done. I would like to permanetly install it on Acer as is much quicker then the HDD. thanks

ssd drive is just a normal 2.5" sata fitting on it...will fit into Acer laptop just like any other drive :)

(Unless of course you mean that the ssd is a M.2 type drive? in which case you would need an adapter that costs about £20...."2.5" sata adapter for m2 drive"...google it....startech normally make good things.)

Clean install recommended but might not be needed.
