I just bought an SSD drive yet I am unsure which cables I will need to plug this in. I tried using a standard SATA cable which I was using for my current drive but it doesn't seem to recognise the hard drive, there is one "slot" free but I'm not sure if it needs to have something in it.

I can't find anything at all on google so I decided to post here.

Thanks.

SSDs use the same cables as a regular SATA HDD. One data cable and one power cable. They both have connectors in the drive that make 'L' shapes and are of different length. The power connector is the longer one.

Can't believe the info isn't pulled up by a google search - what are you searching for?

Some older sata hdds allowed you to plug in a molex power connector though I think they all had sata power connectors too.

You want to find something in your case that looks like the connector on the left. If you don't have any you'll need a molex -> sata converter which is what the full picture is.
