Had SSD as primary drive for some time (Years??) Currently running Win 8.

Yesterday would not boot (Insert boot medium etc)

SSD no longer appears in BIOS.

(It is a Crucial but without removing it I cannot remember the part no)

Is it dead? Can it be revived? Any other suggestions?

Problem solved.

I posted early before having a look. However closer inspection reveals that the problem was simply a loose SATA cable (The PC is used in a Van)

However I have read up that SSD's can fail in a similar manner completely without warning! I imagine that a RAID 1 setup might help with protecting against this. (I already do backups on this system but perhaps not as frequently as I might like owing to logistical issues)

How many people do this I wonder, what are the advantages/disadvantages?
