I purchased a Crucial M225 128GB SSD in October 2009. I'm running firmware 1916
Everything has been fine until about a month ago when I noticed some disk errors being reported on boot up. Chkdsk would run automatically and fix the problems and Win7 would boot and everything ran fine.
Then a couple of weeks ago Win 7 failed to boot and chkdsk would find no errors and the automatic windows repair was unsuccessful.
Fortunately I had back up images of the SSD which contains the operating system and applications, so I simply did a clean format and re-imaged the drive and all was fine.
Now a couple of weeks later when booting tonight I got another disk error. Chkdsk ran and fixed some corrupt files. Windows has booted ok and all seems fine.
But I'm sure before long Windows will fail to boot again as before.
Does this mean my SSD is failing. I've owned it for about 2.5 years, is that all I can expect them to last?
It wasn't a cheap purchase and although I love the speeds I'm not sure whether to buy a replacement if they don't have long term reliability.
