I've never had to deal with two storage devices before and I was thinking about getting a 40GB SSD for Windows and use my Samsung F3 1TB for storage.

Should I use the SSD for my programs as well?

How do I set it up? I mean, how do I change the settings so that the SSD is purely for the OS?

1) yes it is a good idea

2) i'd have OS and KEY programs on the ssd

3) to install stuff to the storage drive, when it says "Installation Directory" just change that to the storage drive, where you want the program to install to :)

id get a bigger SSD then 40GB..... youl fill it up in no time even with just ya OS and a few 'key' programs.

I'm doing it now and am okay. I've since upgraded to 80GB though. 40GB is okay provided you don't install many applications and have games installed on another drive.

Always get the largest SSD you can afford, otherwise you will always be tight for space.

Would this be because of the junk files? Could I not choose to store them somewhere on my HDD?

Also, how do I set it up so that the 'User' folder is on the HDD as well?

Yes you can, if you move the user folder to your HDD you will move a lot of what you term junk files.

You can get a Corsair 60GB Force F60A SSD 2.5" SATA-II Read = 280MB/s, Write = 270MB/s 50,000 IOPS for £89.99
