SSD for ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING & Ryzen 7 5800X

Hi all. It’s been a while but helping my son build his 1st proper all out rig.

He’s got a ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING, Ryzen 7 5800X, Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600MHz C18

The mobo only has 1 PCIE GEN 4 slot but does have a GEN 3. Makes sense to use the main Os for the GEN 4.

Looking for a 2TB drive. Just wondering what to go for.

Actually makes little sense to buy some fastest drive just for OS:
Unless you have too little RAM and page file is used constantly, OS does practically zero drive operations in capability scale of any NVMe/PCIe drive.
And unless you're rebooting PC ten times per hour, loading time differences don't matter.
(and size of read data wouldn't take that many seconds even with SATA SSD)

It's other use like file copying where that PCIe v4 drive can make difference.

In case of games most of them are bottlenecked by bad design and there's little loading time differences between any SSD from SATA drive to PCIe drive.
But some games are designed better and fast PCIe drive just blasts through game/level loading in seconds:

DirectStorage should bring more games in line with that loading speed ability in future.

Anyway currently best priced PCIe v4 drive is only marginally (£10-20) more expensive than full PCIe v3 speed drives.
TeamGroup T-Force Cardea Zero Z440 2TB NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 Solid State Drive= £239.99

Lower end PCIe v3 drive would cut something more than marginal amount from price.
WD Blue SN550 2TB SSD NVME M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 Solid State Drive (WDS200T2B0C)= £176.99
