ssd format

Hi all,went to use my ssd drive and it says it needs formatting! Just a question...should it not already formatted?
Any help appreciated.

is it a new drive? if so just format it to ntfs,then you can use it/install windows ect

yeah new drive m8,going to use it for tv video editing.
