Finally took the plunge and bought a 120gb ssd and windows 7 64bit.
Intention being that the os + a few bits would go on the ssd(C Drive) and my 'old' 750 gb WD Black would become storage(E Drive). As I was upgrading from xp I went with the clean state approach installing the ssd and after windows was installed added the formatted wd drive
I knew that I would have to allocate to which drive I wanted programs/games installed on and assumed that at some point during the install sequence I would be asked. In the main this is how it has run BUT one or two do not , so far as I can see , give any option i.e. you install where they want.
As an example I would refer to crysis 2 - I decided to install this as I find it fun and I could have a look at dx11 graphics - was intending to put it on the ssd and as I had allocated a few 'test' programs(cpu/gpu-z, speedfan etc) to the wd just before I kept a carefull eye on proceedings . MOST surprised to find I was never given an option to choose which drive to put it on - it was, simply, installed upon the ssd.
I would prefer to control matters and to ensure that no programs are automatically installed on either drive so any advise that you can give as to how to avoid/get round this problem would be appreciated.
Am I missing something ?
BTW - The new speedier/quieter system is a real plus - one of the better upgrades I've made
