SSD & HDD Activity.

I installed a Samsung 840 (non pro) a couple of months back and I've been really pleased with the performance.

But I'm pretty sure to begin with that once the SSD was installed the HDD only ran up occasionally when looking to read or write from that drive. (I could hear it spin up when required)

Just lately the HDD there appears active with a little bit of disk activity almost continually. It's not causing any issues as such but just wondered what may be causing the it. I've had a little look for any background processes that may be going on virus checkers/backups, etc. But cant stop anything obvious.

Any ideas?

Open Performance Monitor, within that click 'Open resource monitor'

Within that there's a 'disk' section which shows which programs are accessing what, look for the drive and see which files are being accessed by what.

Cheers that's helped me suss it. If I use the resource monitor you pointed me at it shows no activity at all for D: or E: my HDD. It's all C:, my SSD.

So after a closer look. I assume all the disk activity LED is down to the SSD. I think the noise appears to be coming from the fan at the front of the case it's started chattering/rattling a little (sounded like the HDD was chattering)
rather than being from the HDD. But I'm still not convinced 100%, sounds just like the drive being active

Thanks though..;):)
