Hey everyone, I'm going to be building a new rig for myself soon, cant wait :p anyway, I am thinking about buying a 40GB SSD for a boot drive and a few programs like office etc. I will also have a large mechanical drive for music and games, I was just wondering what is it like living with using two drives like that. I've only ever used one drive at a time before, just wondering if it caused any problems or anything I should worry about.

Thanks In Advanced!

Absoutely no issues whatsoever :P , have you never plugged in a portable drive via usb, in windows it will show up exactly the same as one of those, except it will be there on boot and will be able to read and write to the maximum your drives can provide assuming thats below 300mb/s,

All those sata plugs were meant to be populated :) you'll see no hassle , plug it in, next time you boot it will be there, if its not then its just not formatted, goto device manager , look at the physical device, and format it , job done(although likely not needed)

You should not have any issues what so ever.

I use the OCZ Vortex 60gb as a boot drive and 2 mechanical drives for all other items.

Just to add my use pattern , im using an intel 40 gb for my boot drive with win7 and World of warcraft on it, and im using 2 500gb 2.5 inch drives for my data (sff pc)

what about two normal HDD in raid config?

What I'm planning on doing is ssd for OS and raid for gaming

I have just set up a SSD and HDD - now I may be being dumb but I tried to stick crysis on the HDD (D:\) - problem is I cant seem to select anything other than my C:\ (the SSD).
Any care to explain?

Nope it was a fresh system. Thus I am confused. The HDD is working fine as far as I can tell (have put some music and pictures on there and can access them).
Will try and find something else to try installing it on to the HDD.

Strange - Just stuck another program onto the HDD fine. Will test running it etc and see if its just crysis being strange :\
