SSD Help please.

Recently bought a OCZ Vertex 2E.

Changed my SATA setting on my Dell laptop to AHCI and did a fresh install of windows 7. Specified the partition and let windows do it's thing.

Windows reports HDD performance as 5.9 (same as old drive) and whilst things seem quicker they're not what I expected.

I don't think Windows has recognised it is a SSD.

Read times in HDTune only between 120-170.

Any ideas?

Vostro 1500. Couple of years old, C2D 2.2GHz, 4Gb.

Is there something on the Dell that would limit my write speed to 30MB/s?

Well, tried it in my Media PC with a Gigabyte G41M ES2L MoBo. No joy. same speeds.

Trying now to update the firmware from 1.28 to 1.29.

Not a very efficient piece of software either. At the moment very disappointed with my first experience of OCZ SSDs.

Theres no point in updaing the FW, have you left it to idle to give trim time to work? Have you benchmarked it using ATTO?

Updating the firmware was a last resort. Haven't been able to do it anyway, or a secure erase in the toolkit.

Will look into Atto.
