Hi, i have the following:

C:/ Crucial CTX256 SSD OS only.
D:/ Samsung F3 1TB 300gb partition with games and steam folder
E:/ Samsung F3 1TB 700gb partition with miscellaneous stuff.

Want to install a 2nd 500gb sd to replace the D drive pushing the Samsung drive to E & F , if i just install the new SSD and configure it as D can i just copy the Steam folder and games folders to that without doing anything else..

Have a look at this thread mate : https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/how-to-move-a-steam-game-from-hdd-to-ssd.18805335/

Its been ok for the last 2 years but would not be too much of a headache if it failed.
Yes my one that still works is years and years old, it's just the last of 6 lolz Western Digital blue ones are cheap and no failures yet on mine :)

You can just copy stuff over to your new SSD, and your can change the names of the HDD's to have the D drive now become the F drive, and name new SSD as D

Hi , yes have used that to move the steam folder before , was just wondering since the drive path would still be D: that i would not need to use that or dig through the registry and edit paths for games and apps i have installed that are not on steam.

As long as the new drive is called D (and the path to Steam etc is the same) then it'll be fine.
