Hi.

I have a CRUCIAL 128GB M225 SSD on FW1916. I have just installed Win7 Ultimate and got my setup working nicely. I now want to image my entire drive so that if I get any future problems I can just restore to this point.

Can anyone recommend a good tool to use for this, I would want something that offered my the ability to create a boot disk/CD so that all the tools to restore the image would be on the CD. I would be storing the image on an external USB HD. I have here’d that Acronis True Image is good?

Also, is there an issue with alignment, (not quite sure what this is/how it affects image restore)?

Also, given I have only used 10% of my drive capacity at this point will the image shrink to the size of the files I have used or will it be the full 128GB?

Apologies for the essay. - PS (I have read other posts first & Googleed). Just thought I would get you guys opinions.

Thanks in advance!

J.

I use the built in Win 7 "Backup and Restore" utility to do this, you can also create a Boot CD for it too run in DOS; have used this for both single SSDs and SSDs in RAID0, it works well for me.
