SSD in Laptop?

So I will be going for a Thinkpad Edge very soon, but I was wondering, is it at all possible to stick an SSD into one of these things? Are SSDs SATA only?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

You can get IDE SSD's also but they might work out a little more expensive given there's not the same demand for them as the SATA versions.

Hmm

Ok lets say that the HD in the Laptop is a SATA one,

are SATA SSDs and SATA HDDs same form factor? I.e. can I take one out and put the other in np?

Normal HDD's come in two different sizes - 2.5" and 3.5". SSD's are all 2.5" however which is what a laptop use's.

I would say it use's a SATA connection by the way as only old laptops will still be using the IDE standard.

Holy crap, is there something else a bit cheaper? 50gb or somethng?
Im not looking for the ultimate performance improvement but something discernably different to a laptop hdd.

Failing all else keep an eye out in the Members Market for one. The Intel one's are the best about from what I hear. Other peeps might be able to recommend something different....
